The Last Supper, Mermaid Style

Being as last night was, well, our last night in Florida before we headed to Maine, my brother and I decided to make it special and go out for a nice dinner together. We took a pit stop before our meal at a miniature horse farm (highlight of my day), before heading downtown to wash our hands and prepare to eat. It's odd because no matter how ridiculously similair we look, we still get "you two make a very nice couple" entirely too frequently. Believe it or not, that is not my favorite compliment.
If I were a horse, I'd be one of these miniature ones

Treats, anyone?

Judging by this horse's eye, he's been given one too many of something...
We chose a restaurant neither of us had been to before called the Kilted Mermaid--our parents had gone earlier this week and assured us it was delicious. Our dad isn't exactly the adventurous eater of the family, so we assumed the restaurant would be classy and straight edge. We were wrong. We walked into what could have been a yoga studio and hookah lounge's love child, complete with a multi colored chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and Buddha on the wall.

We were not disappointed. The menu was amazing: fondues, salads, sandwiches, italian meats, flatbreads...and the list goes on. there was not one item that looked unappealing, and I immediately criticized myself for any prior judgment. After my brother, Kenny, ordered a beer, we agreed to split what I thought looked the most appealing: the Kilted Salad topped with sirloin and a portobello sandwich.

Sirloin salad: mixed greens topped with candied pecans, grilled peppers, dried cherries, and a balsamic glaze

Tender Portobello sandwich with crispy bread, black bean hummus on each side, and fresh sprouts
